Child Climate Activist Licypriya Kangujam's father, Kanarjit Kangujam has been arrested on Sunday in connection with a fraud case in Delhi
As per reports, police found out that Singh had rented a place in Noida-Extension. With the help of technical surveillance, they monitored his movement and after tracking him down, the officers informed Manipur Police and held him on Sunday night from the Maharani Bagh area. He was going to meet someone at the airport. An officer claimed that he had allegedly created an NGO based on forged registration numbers and cheated some people after taking money. A similar case was registered against him in 2015.
Further, he was declared a fugitive by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East on 25 April 2016 in a criminal case. "His house was raided and all incriminating articles were picked up. He is absconding in another case as well, so he will be investigated for both cases", an official has been quoted as saying.
Licypriya was in the limelight for leading a climate change movement in India as she had lashed out at the government and the opposition for not fulfilling her demands of passing the Climate Change Law. Last month, she had also donated oxygen cylinders from her savings.
