Class 11 Girl Shoots Self For Not Topping Class

On Sunday (April 1), a girl, who belonged to Haryana’s Jind district, reportedly shot herself with her father's licensed revolver. The class 11 girl killed herself because she was upset that she did not top her class, police told Hindustan Times.

The girl studies at Indus Public school in Pillu Khera town. The school is run by Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu.

She took this drastic step after she got her results on Saturday (March 31). Her expectations shattered when she realised that she did not top the class.

The deceased, identified as Anjali Kumari of Siwaha, was the daughter of village sarpanch Vedpal Singh

Raj Kumar, Investigating officer said:

"Her parents told us she did not score less marks, but could not come 1st as she had expected. This had made her upset.”

Police told HT that the incident occurred on Sunday morning when the girl's family had gone to a nearby village. Anjali then locked herself in the bathroom and shot herself with her father's gun.

Her father said Anjali had reportedly called him and asked him to immediately return home. But when Vedpal Singh reached home, he found his daughter dead. There was a  gunshot wound on her head.

She was declared brought dead when rushed to the hospital. Later, after the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family. Her father told the police that although Anjali was upset over her result, she was determined to improve it in the next class.

Anjali was the eldest of three siblings, NDTV reported.

Unfortunately, Anjali did not wait for the second chance and gave up her life.
