Breastfeeding mother kills son: A woman in Chhattisgarh allegedly smashed her two-year-old son to death, pestered by his repeated demands for being breast-fed. He sustained many head injuries and was rushed to hospital, but could not survive. The woman is currently under interrogation, police said Thursday.

1. As per police, a woman in Korba, fed up with constant breastfeeding demands of her toddler, banged him on the floor of her residence. The assault resulted in the young boy suffering injuries that he later succumbed to.

3. Preliminary investigation suggests the woman is facing "psychological" issues since 2014 and had been seeking treatment for the same, according to a senior police official quoted by Outlook.

The brutal Chhattisgarh incident isn't the first of its kind to make it to headlines in recent times. Over the last year, there have been several reports outlining cases involving annoyed parents who assaulted their children to death.
In February this year, a Maharashtra man in a fit of rage over his toddler crying for sweets smashed her head multiple times, leading to her demise. His wife later alleged domestic violence too and he was arrested.
In another instance last year December, a man in Ranchi strangled his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, troubled by her cries and because he didn't want a girl child.
