Chadwick Boseman's wife Simone Ledward grew emotional while accepting the Actor Tribute award for her late husband at the Gotham Awards. She expressed her heartache for the first time in public in an emotionally heart-wrenching speech in her husband's honour. “He is the most honest person I'd ever met. He actively searched for it, in himself, those around him and the moment. The truth can be a very easy thing for the self to avoid. But if one does not live in truth, then it's impossible to live life," she said.
Ledward added that this was how her late husband was able to totally be present "in his own life and in the lives of people he became." She also said that while acting, her husband was "modeling a path to true fulfillment" instead of just "telling a story or reading lines on a page."
Lastly, she added that she was proud of accepting the award as it reflected the impact her husband had made in the industry and also the world. She tearfully thanked her husband for everything and declared her love for him. Checkout the entire video of her virtual tribute here.
