Earlier in June, 59 mobile apps and in September, 118 more apps were banned under section 69A of the Information Technology Act. Famous apps like PUBG and TikTok were banned during this wave. Some of the other apps banned are CamCard, Adore App and WeTV.

The tensions in the Chinese border reportedly persuaded the Government of India to review the applications. The Indian government has cited the reason for the ban as these apps were found "prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity, defence, security, and public order" of the country. The official press release said, “this action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”

SnackVideo and AliExpress are a few of the most famous apps on the list of the third wave of the banning of mobile applications by the Center. Most of the apps are of Chinese origin. Few online dating apps are also included in the list.
