On Tuesday, CBSE announced results of Class X. Nandini Garg, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, emerged as the all-India topper scoring a 99.8%. She shares the top spot with Rimzhim Agarwal of UP, Sreelakshmi G of Kerala and Prakhar Mittal of Gurgaon.

Believed in self-study and didn't take tuition
Nandini(15) scored a perfect 100 in four subjects and 99 in Hindi. She shared that she preferred early morning studies while preparing for her examination. The teenager strongly believes in self-study and did not take any private tuition. Though she did expect about 95% plus, her happiness knew no bounds when she realised that she had in fact topped the country.
Nandini is a student of the Scottish International School. She has shifted to Kota to prepare for engineering and wants to pursue join one of the IITs. She was on the train, travelling from Kota to her hometown Shamli when her father informed her about the result. Her father, Rajeev Garg, is an engineer. "I just believe in self-study so I did not take any tuition for any subject", she told TOI.
"We are very proud of her. She has made not only the school but also the district proud. She has a balanced approach towards studies and other co-curricular activities," said Ashu Tyagi, Principal, Scottish International School.
Nandini stayed away from cell phones and social media, which she considers as distractions, and studied with focus and hard work. She is an avid reader, her favourite being The Harry Potter series. Dancing helps her relax too. The young girl now plans to do her engineering from IIT and then become an IAS officer.
Girls outshine boys by a margin of 3.35 %
Of the girls who appeared for the CBSE Class X exam, 88.67 percent of them passed successfully. The result was announced by the CBSE on Tuesday after 1 pm. The pass percentage of boys came to 85.32%.
