The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) revealed that for each subject, 80 marks will be for the tests conducted during the academic year and 20 marks will be for internal assessment. The board also added that the student’s marks should be consistent with their past performance in school for the final marks.

The CBSE schools were asked to form an eight-member committee to tabulate the results. They added that schools that indulged in unfair, biased practices for the assessment would face penalty and disaffiliation from CBSE. CBSE Class 10 board results will be announced tentatively by the third week of June.

CBSE class 10 marks will be based on a student's marks on their unit test, mid-term exam, and pre-board exam. The marks a student got for the unit test will account for 10 marks. The mid-term examination marks will account for 30 marks, and the pre-board exam marks will account for 40 marks. In total, these three tests will account for 80 marks. As per CBSE’s existing policy, 20 marks will be for the internal assessment that will be carried out from the schools.

In case a student finds the marks allocated unsatisfactory, then they will be allowed to write the exam after the spread of COVID-19 is under control.

The decision to postpone and cancel board exams for class 10 and class 12 respectively came after the spike in COVID-19 cases in India.

For the postponed CBSE Class 12 board exams, the situation will be reviewed on June 1. A revised date sheet will be released after. The official statement read that “A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.”

The ICSE (class 10) and ISC (class 12) board exams were postponed by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
