Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is one of the best thing that happened to the DC universe. She totally nailed it in Suicide Squad and that. The good news is DC Universe has recruited Cathy Yan to give the crazed super villain Harley Quinn a new world to ruin (pun intended). And with this Cathy will be the first Asian female Director to be part of the DC World. The filmmaker will shape up the girl-gang movie based on the “Birds of Prey” comic, and Margot Robbie will the star of the show.

Yan is the first Asian woman to direct a CBM and the second woman to direct a DC film!
WB was very impressed Christina Hodson’s script. Great move by WB to have a woman of color direct & write this film! pic.twitter.com/7FxCEFlLb5
Yan is also the second female filmmaker to direct a DC film, following Patty Jenkins’s masterstroke with Wonder Woman. A former Wall St. Journal reporter, Yan made her feature debut with Sundance entry Dead Pigs. If she signs the contracts, she will be the first Asian woman to take the wheel of a movie under the DC Comics universe banner. DC previously tapped Ava DuVernay to direct “New Gods,” which is still in development.

Born in China, Yan was raised in Hong Kong and Washington. She would become the first Asian woman to direct a big-budget superhero movie. The move would also continue to keep up the record of Warner Bros.' track of hiring female filmmakers for its comic book properties.
