The Indian Film Federation announced the Gujarati film Chhello Show also called The Last Film Show as India's official entry to the Oscars for this year. The world premiere of the film was held at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City last year. Chhello Show, which was the opening film at the festival and garnered some significant attention, will have its theatrical release on October 14, 2022.
Cast of Chhello Show features diverse actors across Gujarati and Hindi cinema. Director Nalin Kumar Pandya, popular by the name Pan Nalin, has directed the coming-of-age drama. He also serves as the producer of the film. The film is produced by Roy Kapur Films, Monsoon Films, Jugaad Motion Pictures, Chhello Show LLP and Marc Duale.

Chhello Show, which marks its entry in the Best International Feature Film Category at the Oscars, has an interesting cast. Siddharth Roy Kapur who is the founder of Roy Kapur Films took to his social media to share the news and congratulated the entire cast and crew. Most of the actors are children in the film. Bhavin Rabari
Bhavin Rabari is the heart of the film. He plays a nine-year-old boy, Samay, who takes a liking to cinema as his interest curiously increases with every passing day. The drama revolves around the excitement of watching films on the big screen through the eyes of this young boy endearingly played by Rabari. The ">trailer of the film gives a slight peak into the life of the boy, who bunks school to fulfil his thrill of watching endless cinema.
Richa Meena
Richa Meena plays the role of Baa, the mother of Samay. Meena is known for her roles in several films including Mardaani 2, Running Shaadi, Kasaai, and Ghumantu - The Wanderer among others.
Bhavesh Shrimali
The film also explores the nuances of Fazal, Projectionist at the Galaxy Cinema, effortlessly played by actor Bhavesh Shrimali. Shrimali has earlier worked in films like Tu Star Chhe, Chabutro and Peti Pack. The story dives into the bond that both Samay and Fazal share, with their common interest in cinema.
Dipen Raval
Dipen Raval plays the role of Bapuji, Samay's father, who is constantly worried about Samay's education and his wandering habit of bunking school to watch films. Raval is known for his work in several films including Ratanpur and Wrong Side Raju.
Paresh Mehta
Paresh Mehta plays the role of Galaxy Cinema Manager, where Fazal works. Mehta is known to have worked in films like Bhootnath, Mere Genie Uncle and My Father Iqbal.
The other cast members of the film include Alpesh Tank (as Teacher Mr Dave), Rahul Koli (as Manu), Vikas Bata (as Nano), Shoban Vijay Mer (as Tiku), Makwa (as Badshah), Kishan Parmar (as S.T.), and Tia Sebastien (as Leela Mila).
The film won the Golden Spike Award at the 2021 Valladolid Film Festival in Spain and was also nominated for the Tiantan Awards at the 2021 International Beijing Film Festival.
The 95th Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles. The ceremony, which is presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honour the films released in 2022.
