An expression of female rage-Promising Young Woman
This comedy thriller Promising Young Woman marks the debut of the director Emerald Fennell. Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, and Laverne Cox are other leading actors in the movie. Fennell, who is also the film's writer and co-producer said that her inspiration to make a dark comedy genre like this is her interest in female rage.
The feature film revolves around revenge and also exposes toxic masculinity. The future of the protag, Cassandra Thomas gets distorted after an unfortunate incident. Thereafter, she continues to live a secret double life at night. However, stumbling upon a clue, she sets out to avenge the villains of her past. But the story of Cassandra Thomas's vengeance is well balanced by a fair amount of comedy and iconic soundtracks in the film.
Both Emerald Fennell's direction and Carey Mulligan's performance earned praise as well as criticism from world-wide. The actor will be seen next in Netflix's Maestro opposite Bradley Cooper and The Dig opposite Ralph Fiennes.
