Reportedly, the US federal authorities raided Nygard's Manhattan headquarters earlier this year amidst numerous accusations of trafficking and sexually assaulting teenage girls and women. The FBI then went to the designer's Times Square offices after ten women filed a lawsuit accusing Nygard of "enticing young and impoverished women to his estate in the Bahamas with cash and promises of modeling opportunities." The suit also alleged that many girls were not above the age of 14 to 15 years old when Nygard intoxicated them with alcohol and drugs, and then raped them.
It was also reported that Nygard had been using his influence and businesses to “recruit and maintain” victims in the United States, Canada and the Bahamas. In a civil litigation in Manhattan, more than fifty women accused him of sexual misconduct. Nygard, however, has denied all the allegations. “Mr. Nygard vehemently denies all the allegations and expects to be vindicated in court,” his lawyer Jay Prober said.

The indictment further claimed that Nygard took many girls and women to his private clubs where they would be forced to having sex with him and other men "for his own sexual gratification.”
