Smriti Irani, Cabinet Minister of the Textiles Ministry was replaced by Piyush Goyal. Irani has retained the ministry of Women and Child Development.

Cabinet Reshuffle: Smriti Irani Replaced And More

Piyush Goyal was the former Railway Cabinet Minister who has got Irani's Ministry of Consumer Affairs & Textiles. Mansukh Mandaviya got Health & Family Welfare Ministry, along with the Chemicals & Fertilizers Ministry.

The cabinet reshuffle was done by the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi. Before announcing the list, PM Modi mentioned that this cabinet is going to be the youngest ever.

The reshuffle has also included seven more women in the council. Meenakshi Lekhi, Shobha Karandlaje, and Anupriya Singh Patel were newly added to the list. The other four included Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Lekhi, Annapurna Devi, Pratima Bhoumik, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar.

Anupriya Patel is the president of the Apna Dal political party which was founded by her father. She is an advocate and supporter of quotas for women.

The post of Smriti Irani and Nirmala Sithraman did not change as the Cabinet Minister. Sitharaman holds Finance and Corporate Affairs. Ashwini Vaishnaw has three ministries of Railways, Communication and Electronics, and Information Technology. Narayan Rane is also seen on the list.

Even before the new list of ministers was announced, some of the existing ones filed their resignations. Former Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal was one of them. The new cabinet took the oath on Wednesday evening.
