Recently Congress Government won the Karnataka state elections and the party soon imposed new rules for the development of the state, especially when it came to transportation. One such scheme is the Shakti scheme where women and transgenders can travel free in State-run non-premium buses all over Karnataka. This has reportedly increased the number of bus travels in the state as well.
The government has launched this scheme to empower women and ensure women's safety but in a recent incident in Karnataka, a lady bus conductor of NWKSRTC (North-West Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) is seen doing exactly the opposite of what was preached. She is seen slapping an elderly woman aboard the bus.
Bus Conductor In Karnataka Slaps Old Woman:
The incident was reported by News 18 Kannada. The bus, which was proceeding from Kundgol to Hubbali, stopped near Sherewad for collecting ticket money from the passengers. As an elderly woman raised an objection and reportedly swore at the bus conductor, an argument broke out and the latter slapped her in a fit of rage.
In the 55 seconds long video going viral on the Internet, the conductor can be seen losing her temper and slapping the elderly woman. When the co-passengers objected the conductor still kept shouting something in Kannada. However, what can be seen is that no co-passengers intervened and stopped the conductor from harassing the old woman.

The internet is now enraged by the shocking incident and netizens are demanding strict actions against the bus driver and conductor. NWKRTC Managing Director Bharath S issued a statement announcing that disciplinary actions would be taken against bus drivers and conductors in any case of their misbehaviour with passengers.
NWKRTC officer H Ramangoudar said that a show-case notice will be issued against the accused bus conductor.
The state had also counselled the transportation employees through a circular asking them to be polite and courteous with passengers, especially women and stopping the bus at all the designated stops. Employees were also asked to ensure students and women board and deboard the bus safely.
