The Bulandshahr police arrested three people in connection with the alleged murder of a 15-year-old Dalit girl. The girl was reportedly set on fire in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning by seven people. According to the police, she died at Delhi’s RML (Ram Manohar Lohia) Hospital and the body was cremated on Wednesday in the evening.
The 15-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a man in August and the family was being pressured to withdraw the complaint, reported The Indian Express. The police have arrested five out of seven people named in the FIR (First Information Report) by the girl's father. Bulandshahr SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) Santosh Kumar Singh said, “We are looking for the remaining two accused and will find them soon.” As per the report, the five people arrested are Banwari, Badan Singh, Veer Singh, Jaswant Singh, and Gautam. The remaining two accused Sanjay and his wife Kajal are still on the run.

According to NDTV, the rape took place on August 15 but the rape accused was arrested. However, on Tuesday, the police received information that the same girl has been set on fire under suspicious circumstances. The rape accused's family allegedly poured petrol on the girl and set her on fire.

The police said that at first, it appeared she tried to end her life. But as per the family’s complaint, seven people tried to kill her. The girl’s family alleged that the people responsible for setting her on fire are relatives of the accused, who is still in prison.
Cremation of the girl
Before the cremation of the girl, Singh and District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar met the girl’s family and assured them of all help from the administration. The administration has also initiated a transfer of 3.75 lakh rupees for the girl’s family as per provisions of the SC/ST (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Act. The family members of the girl have been also provided security, officials said Wednesday. According to Hindustan Times, the girl’s family demanded security and requested for arrangements to bring the body to the village to perform the last rites.
