Central government to add 1 lakh plus jobs: More than 1.4 lakh jobs are expected to be created between March 2019 to March 2021 in various government departments, as discussed today during the speech on Union budget 2021.
The finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the strength of government establishments was 32,71,113 as on March 1, 2019. This number is estimated to increase to 34,14,226 by the first day of March 2021. Hence, there is an increase in 1,43,113 between the span of two years.
Department-wise break-up of jobs
The budget also mentioned that break-up of the jobs estimated to be created in central government departments between the aforesaid time span.
- Around 2,207 jobs are estimated to be created in the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers' Welfare.
The strength of 3,619 as on March 1, 2019, has been estimated to be increased to 5,826 by March 1, 2020.
- 1,058 jobs are estimated to be created in the Ministry of Civil Aviation by the beginning of next month.
Its strength of 1,254 on March 2019, would increase to 2,312 by March 2021.
- As many as 12,537 new civil jobs are likely to be created in the Defence Ministry.
The count was 80,463 in March 2019, which has been estimated to increase to 93,000 by March 2021.
- A total of 4,072 jobs are estimated to be created in the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Its actual strength of 20,907 on March 1, 2019, will be 24,979 by March 1, this year, it said.
- Approximately 5,305 jobs are likely to be created in the Ministry of Mines.
The number of 7,980 as on March 1, 2019 is estimated to be 13,285 by March 1, 2021.
- The Culture Ministry is estimated to add 3,638 jobs.
- The Ministry of Earth Sciences would most likely add 2,859 jobs.
- The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change plans to add 2,263 jobs
- 2,204 by the Ministry of External Affairs is likely to add 2,204 jobs within the given span of time.
- The Department of Commerce and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology would add 2,139 and 1,452 jobs respectively between this two-year period.
- Around 2,419 jobs are estimated to be created by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
- 1,848 jobs are expected to be created by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
- The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation plan to add 1,456 jobs.
- The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying and the Department of Fisheries would most likely add 995 and 651 jobs respectively.
- As many as 2,684 jobs are likely to be created in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
Union Budget 2021
The Union Budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 was presented by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman today.
For the first time since independence, the union budget presented by the Finance Ministry was not printed. This was due to the COVID-19 restrictions as the printing of the budget involves around 100 employees of the Finance Ministry to stay together for a fortnight until the budget is printed, sealed and delivered to the parliament.
