BTS Sets Five Guinness World Records: After the release of their latest single Butter, the South Korean boy band has broken another five new world records.
The Guinness World Records announced that BTS has officially made five new world records with their new English single Butter. With these five new world record achievements, the septet group BTS now holds a total of 23 Guinness World Records.
According to the announcement of the Guinness World Record, BTS’s Butter firstly broke the world record for having the most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube. YouTube has also previously confirmed that the premiere for the music video had 3.9 million viewers.
Additionally, the music video also broke the record for “the most viewers for the premiere of any video on YouTube.” This broke the previous record set by BTS’s first English single, ">Dynamite, which was released last year.
The septet’s worldwide hit single Butter broke the world record for being the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group. Adding to the record, it also broke the overall record for the most-viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours not only by a Korean group but by any artist. According to the confirmed official figures from YouTube, the music video racked up a total of 108.2 million views in the first 24 hours of its release.
Finally, the Guinness World Records also officially recognised Butter as a track that has broken the world record for being the most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours. According to the streaming website’s official figures, the song was streamed 11,042,335 times in the first 24 hours of its release. This broke the previous record set by Western artists Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber with 10.97 million streams in 2019 with their collaboration in the song I Don’t Care.
