Women’s participation in the Republic Day parade is increasing with each passing year. And the women’s contingent is not going to disappoint this year either. In fact, this is going to be the first time in history that Border Security Force (BSF) will have its all-woman bikers' contingent perform stunts on Rajpath on January 26.
Thre women bikers have prepared a show of stunts and acrobatics on 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles. BSF trained this team of 27 members last year. Originally called as Women Jabaanz, BSF trained the stuntswomen in their Academy in Tekanpur, Madhya Pradesh.
"This time it was the BSF's turn and they have named their women's contingent. It is the first time that women bikers will participate in Republic Day parade"
The Republic Day parade tradition is that every year, alternately either the BSF or the Army's bike-borne 'daredevils' end the parade. This year, it is BSF’s turn.
"This time it was the BSF's turn and they have named their women contingent. It is the first time that women bikers will participate in Republic Day parade," a senior official said, NDTV reported.
BSF trainers chose the members of this bikers’ team from the age group of 25-30 and belong to various combat ranks of the force.

A Paramilitary Forces official mentioned that this team of women bikers is named Seema Bhavani.
Earlier in 2015, women contingents from Army, Navy and Air Force had showcased their skills in the national parade.
In an interview with SheThePeople.TV in February last year, BSF Commander and the principal of Central School of Motor Transport, Mukesh Tyagi said, “These women learn faster than men.”
Tyagi revealed that BSF Director General K K Sharma takes special interest in encouraging women to move forward. "Sharma suggested training women constables to ride bikes and perform stunts just like men."
