Former professional Brazil-born boxer Viviane Obenauf who once fought Katie Taylor has been arrested under suspicion of beating her 61-year-old husband to death. She has been accused of killing her husband with a blunt object in the apartment they both shared.
Obenauf was arrested this week and is under investigative custody post her husband's death from a violent assault. Obenauf's husband's name is under protection by Swiss law. According to the deceased's friend Martin Soche, he was a popular figure in the town and will be missed, the Sun reported.

A three-time world championship challenger, Obenauf married her 61-year-old wealthy Swiss hotelier husband in January this year. According to the people she is known to have gotten into fights outside the ring. Reportedly, she punched a man in his face at a nightclub after he tried to grope the boxer while she was celebrating her 30th birthday.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Obenauf used to play football initially and was also an Olympic gymnast. Later at the age of 18, she took up boxing. After retiring from boxing she began working in the gastronomy industry and then went on to open her own gym.

Obenauf is said to have a successful record as a boxer before retiring from the ring last year. She won 14 fights against six losses. The Brazilian boxer has also fought in three world title bouts during the span of her career and held two World Boxing Federation international titles.
