Surpreet Kaur news anchor of TV channel IBC-24 of Chattisgarh never must have imagine this in her worst dream that one day she would be reading out the news of her husband’s death on national TV. Unknowingly. Saturday morning while reading out news, the ‘breaking news’ came out to be of an accident in which she lost her husband, Harsad Kawade in an accident. However, Kaur maintained composure while reading the breaking news leaving her shell-shocked colleagues speechless by her dedication towards her work.

A reporter called into the newsroom with details of a fatal accident that took place in Pitthora in Mahasamund district earlier on Saturday. The accident that involved a Renault Duster, three out of the five people travelling in the car were pronounced dead. While the reporter did not name the people who lost their lives and that is when it might have struck Kaur that it could be her husband as he was also travelling in a Renault Duster along the same route at the same time.
Without losing cool, Kaur dealt with the situation with resilience and broke down only after leaving the news room.

“She is an extremely brave lady. We are proud of her as an anchor, but what happened today has left us in shock,” said a colleague to Hindustan Times.
28-year-old Kaur is a famous face on Chattisgarh TV as she has been a news anchor with IBC-24 for the past nine years. Originally from Bhillai, Kaur married Kawade about a year ago and they were living in Raipur.
Right after the show was finished, Kaur rushed to the accident site and started calling her relatives to pass on the information.
“She got a sense that it was her husband’s vehicle. She read the bulletin and only when she came out of the studio, she starting calling her relatives,” a senior editor said.
Kaur’s colleagues had already come to know that Kaur’s husband was dead by the time she was breaking the news on TV but no one had the courage to tell her about it, said the IBC-24 editor.
