A five-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a pack of stray dogs in Hyderabad on Sunday. A CCTV camera placed close to the Amberpet facility, where the boy's father served as a security guard, caught chilling images of the incident.
The child named Pradeep accompanied his father to work when he got attacked by a pack of stray dogs. In the video, the boy can be seen walking alone. Three dogs soon surround the child and charge at him from all sides. The boy, who is running in fear, is pushed to the ground by the dogs as they close in on him. The child then tries to escape as they begin tugging at his clothes. The dogs attack him and knock him to the ground each time he tries to stand up. They quickly gain total control of him and begin to bite him all over. As the big dogs continue to bite the child and drag him into a corner, three smaller dogs suddenly appear and can be seen watching. The video seems to indicate that the child passed away immediately.

Mayor Vijayalakshmi Gadwal of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation convened an urgent meeting on Tuesday in order to discuss steps that must be taken to prevent another horrendous tragedy.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the danger posed by stray dogs, with many sharing images of the child's attack on social media and calling for authorities to take strict action. The incident occurred about two weeks after a four-year-old boy lost his life as a result of a stray dog attack in Surat, Gujarat. In Bihar's Arrah earlier in January, a stray dog went on a biting rampage, leaving over 80 people hospitalised.
The issue has also been brought up in court, where the Bombay High Court emphasised the need for a system for neutering, feeding, grooming, and immunising stray dogs. The court made this observation while it was considering a petition from residents of a Mumbai apartment building who asked the local government to set aside areas for stray dogs to be fed.
