Various reports and studies in the past have showed that women in India are exploited and aren’t safe even in their own houses. Being the largest democracy in the world, all citizens in India have a fair share of rights that why are women so oppressed in this country? One of the major reasons for this is a lack of awareness amongst people.
To address this issue FICCI FLO has launched a book called 'Laws affecting woman in India,' that lists down all legal rights of women in India, right from birth. The laws include a woman’s right to birth control, laws governing her marriage, inheritance, succession and other legal protections at their places of work, according to Times of India.
The book has been written by a team of professionals working for the country’s leading law firm Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh Shroff Company. FICCI FLO’s national president Neeta Boochra said, “The book is a road map for solution that can work to improve women’s rights in India and equip every Indian woman with knowledge and ability to deal with issues, not only conceptually ,but also practically,” according to a report by First Report.
She added that it was a great initiative that would highly benefit working women in India. Due to the easy language, it would be helpful in guiding women from different backgrounds. The book was released last week at the FICCI FLO interstate convergence 2014 at The Lalit in Jaipur.
