Gangubai ‘Ganga’ Harjivandas
We all have been waiting to see Alia Bhatt as Ganga Harjivandas in her upcoming biopic Gangubai Kathiawadi. Bhatt will be seen playing the role of a brothel madam as the story revolves around real-life brothel owner Gangubai Kathewadi, who became a strong underworld personality in the 1960s Mumbai. Gangubai was known for the fact that she never forced a girl into prostitution and retained power over people who once disrespected her. After being rescheduled several times, the movie is set to release in March.

Releasing on February 4, 2022, Taapsee Pannu-starrer Shabaash Mithu is a biopic revolving around Indian woman cricketer Mithali Raj. We are excited to witness how the cricketer embraced her skills in a male-dominated sphere and her struggles in becoming one of India’s most celebrated sportspersons.

Starring Kangana Ranaut as the female lead, film Dhaakad is India’s first female-led spy thriller. The story revolves around Agent Agni as she fights the injustices against women and children in the form of female exploitation and child trafficking. The film will release on April 8, 2022.

Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi’s upcoming film Double XL features the actresses as struggling with body image issues and the stigma of fat-shaming. We’re excited to see how the actress depict such sensitive issue and normalise the stigma of being overweight. The movie is expected to release in summer 2022.
