Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new programme, the Boeing STEM programme in Bengaluru, for women to accelerate women’s participation in the aviation sector. The programme will teach skills in science, technology, engineering and math to girls and women across India that will empower them.
Reinforcing the government’s efforts in empowering women and pushing their participation in the aviation sector, Modi reminded everyone of how India is leading in the world with 15% of India’s pilots being women during the launch of the aircraft manufacturing giant Boeing’s largest investment facility.
About BIETC
Boeing India Engineering and Technology Centre(BIETC) campus is set to be built for Rs 1600 crore spread across a 43-acre campus.
Boeing announced its intention to become a pivotal force in collaborating with the dynamic startup community, along with private and government ecosystems in India. The goal is to contribute to developing cutting-edge products and services for the global aerospace and defence industry.
PM Modi also launched the Boeing Sukanya Programme.
What is the Programme?
The STEM programme, Sukanya is set to establish STEM Labs at 150 locations and provide scholarships for women pursuing pilot training. Investments will support flight training curriculum, simulator training, and career development programs in government schools.
The programme will open the windows of opportunity for girls and women to learn critical skills in the STEM field that will enable them to apply for and find jobs in the aviation sector.
The COO of Boeing, Stephanie Pope, said that the company aims to expand and create more opportunities for women to pursue careers in whatever field they aspire to and be leaders.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly R Ashoka, and Boeing Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Pope, were present on the occasion.
