A bizarre event unfolded in a house in Connecticut when a black bear was caught on camera breaking into a house and walking around fearlessly taking a stroll. The bear is later seen standing up on its legs to open the refrigerator and take some food away from the freezer.
The bear was caught on camera taking a frozen lasagna out of a refrigerator and feeding on it after breaking into a house in Barkhamsted. The video was caught on a security camera of a household, but as there was nobody at home at the time, no one was harmed. It also seems like bears barging into human spaces is a usual activity in Connecticut considering many recent cases.
Hungry Bear Breaks Into Connecticut House
A video of the incident was captured on a Ring security camera in the house of Helena Richardson. The video shows the bear roaming around the house for 35 minutes breaking through a screen door.
In the CCTV footage, the black-furred bear is first seen roaming in the foyer of the house and then later turning towards the kitchen where he was caught standing on his feet just like a human. The quadruped beast then started choosing from the food stored in the freezer and picked up frozen lasagna from his mouth.
The bear finally left the house with a frozen lasagna tucked in the mouth and climbed on the refrigerator to reach an open kitchen window for his way out of the house.
The house owner Helena Richardson shared the video and news with the news outlet CBS 58, that she was at work when her Ring doorbell notified her of someone's arrival. As she was not expecting anyone at that hour in her house, she checked the unexpected activity that was notified to her.
Richardson shared that the lasagna was packed for her by her mother, and expressed her astonishment as she said, "You can see him going from room to room and looking as comfortable as I am in my house."
This is not the first time a bear has barged into a human space in Connecticut, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP); so far there have been more than 70 bears breaking into the house of the residents of the area.
The department also warned residents earlier this year to stay cautious as the bears around the neighbourhoods have lost their natural fear of humans and are now habituated to human activities they break into human spaces since they have been exposed to food in trash cans, food for dogs and birds, and given that some people even fed bears earlier in the locality.
