Former BJP Corporator Hacked To Death In Bengaluru: Timeline Of The Case

Bengaluru corporator murder case: A 45-year-old woman, R Rekha Kadiresh, was reportedly hacked to death on Thursday morning by a three-member gang in Bengaluru. Kadiresh was an ex Bharatiya Janata Party corporator in the city. The deceased woman was elected twice from Chalawadipalya ward of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

On June 24, Kadiresh was attacked and killed by miscreants outside her residence. Here is the timeline of the case which is now being overseen by the Central Crime Branch team in the city.

Timeline of Events

- Kadiresh was attacked by three men with machetes around 10.30 in the morning outside her residence. She was out of the house, distributing food kits at Anjanappa garden, adjacent to her house. The preliminary investigation revealed that two to three persons visited her when she was with her party workers and followers.

- The assailents fatally assaulted the former corporator with sharp weapons, injuring her neck and head, and hacked her to death.

-  After the attack on Thursday, Kadiresh collapsed with severe injuries while the assailants managed to flee the scene. The police were informed and her injured body was then rushed to the Victoria hospital, where she passed away due to excessive blood loss.

- Police now have gathered the information of the men who allegedly attacked Kadiresh. The attackers have been identified as Peter, Robert and Stephen, and are the neighbours of the deceased. Peter and Stephen were out on bail two months back. It is suspected that the duo had planned her murder.

- The assailants are said to be from the same area and were known to Kadiresh. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

- Incidentally, the deceased's husband, S Kadiresh, was also killed in broad daylight in 2018 in the same area. He was 47 then and had been hacked to death by four armed men near Muneshwara temple in Cottonpet. It was said to be a case of personal rivalry. While two accused Naveen and Vinay had surrendered before the court, the other two had managed to escape.

- According to sources, an old feud between the miscreants and the targetted family is said to be the main cause behind the brutal act.

- The police have registered a case into the incident and formed a special team to investigate further, sources said. The special team is investigating the case and probing into all angles including family tussle.

- According to sources, it appears to be a pre-planned murder and CCTV cameras installed in the locality were found have to been turned away from the spot where the incident occurred.

- A special team has been formed to nab the miscreants.
