This year many cases of sexual crimes against minors have been reported in Muzaffarpur district. A minor girl was allegedly gangraped and burnt alive at her residence in Muzaffarpur on January 11. She was later taken to a hospital for treatment but couldn't survive the injuries and died. The girl's father accused four people and subsequestly an FIR was registered.
Then again, same month, five youths, said to be students of Bachelor of Technology in an engineering college outside Bihar, were arrested in connection with the gangrape of a minor girl. The accused had been identified by the survivor and were interrogated. "One of them has said that he knows the girl very well. So, I have asked the investigating officer (IO) of the case to collect the call details record (CDR) of the phones used by the girl and all the accused."
The survivor's statement was recorded in the court after conducting her medical examination, as per deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (east) Manoj Pandey, who led the special investigative team. The minor girl was first kidnapped and then allegedly gangraped by five youths, three of the arrested suspects are from a single family from Sujawalpur village.
It was also reported that the station house officer of Sakra police station had come under scanner for not registering the survivor’s complaint initially.
