A young first-time voter rode on a bicycle with her grandmother to a polling booth in Patna, Bihar, as the state kickstarted its second phase of assembly polls today, November 3.
Talking about her experience as a first-time voter, the young Patna resident said, “I have come here with my grandmother. I will be voting for the first time. I hope we will have more employment opportunities for youth in the future.”

People from over seventeen districts began casting their votes in the second phase of the Bihar polls at seven am today. Approximately 1464 candidates are contesting the elections including 46 from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 56 from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), 53 from Janata Dal (United), 24 from Congress and five from Vikasheel Insan Party (VIP). Three left parties from the Mahagathbandhan or Grand Alliance are also contesting on 14 seats. Former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are two key candidates in the fray.
