The women did catwalk on the broken, pothole-laden streets as their runway to draw attention to the poor condition of roads in the area. The mock fashion show was performed by residents of a locality near Hoshangabad Road in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The women were reportedly dressed in sarees and managed to navigate their way through waterlogged potholes. The unique and new approach of the women made sure their demands for road repair were heard loud and clear.

According to a report by India Today, the women also demanded that the colony should be handed over to the municipal corporation while doing the catwalk on the muddy and pockmarked streets. They stated that if the colony will not be handed over to the municipal corporation, the residents would stop paying property tax.

One of the protesting women said in the report that they have complained about the poor condition of roads at all levels, however, never received a response or a solution.

“Because of the huge potholes on the roads, accidents are happening every day," one of the residents said, "Yet the roads are not being repaired. What are we paying taxes for?”
