Bhojpuri actress Anupama Pathak was found dead at her Dahisar flat in Mumbai on August 2. Based on the preliminary investigation, the 40-year-old has allegedly died by suicide and was found hanging at her suburban apartment. Reportedly, there was a suicide note indicating the cause of her death.
Pathak, who hailed from Patna, had shifted to Mumbai in search of work. A day before her death, she took to her (unverified) Facebook account and went live to talk about certain people and how they betrayed her trust, TOI reported. In the video, she said she felt cheated and was not able to trust anyone. "If you confide to someone that you are going through some problems and feel suicidal, that person, no matter how good a friend he or she is, will immediately ask you to keep them away from your problems so that they don't get into trouble after you die," Pathak said in Hindi in her August 1 Facebook live video.

"Also people will make fun of you and disrespect you in front of others. So never share your problems with anyone and never consider anyone your friend," she added suggesting never to share your problems with anyone and never consider anyone your friend.

Now a complaint has been registered and an initial investigation has started under section 306 of IPC (Abetment of suicide). As per reports, the suicide note suggested that the actress was allegedly cheated by a company named Wisdom Producer Company in Malad in which she had invested Rs 10,000. She claimed they never returned her the profit after the maturity date in December 2019. Another report also stated that a friend took her two-wheeler during the lockdown and never returned it. Pathak took the tragic step to end her life when her husband was out of the house, police said. A suicide note was found at the spot, a report by Firstpost stated.
"Bye bye, Good night" was her last Facebook post, a police officer told The Indian Express.
A month earlier, on 15 May, TV actor Manmeet Grewal had died by suicide at his Mumbai home. Another actor known for his work in Hindi TV serials Sameer Sharma, 44, was found hanging from his kitchen ceiling on August 6, according to ANI. His body was found by security staff at his home in suburban Malad where he lived alone.
