Rape Accused Footballer Benjamin Mendy Gets New Trial Date, Here's All About The Case

French footballer and a defender of the Manchester City football team, Benjamin Mendy was accused of rape and sexual assault charges in August 2021. Another footballer, Louis Saha Matturie, was also charged with six rape cases and one sexual assault charge along with him. Benjamin Mendy rape case has since gone through several trials, accusations, bail pleas and charges.

Benjamin Mendy Rape Case:

The case began with accusations on 27-year-old French footballer Benjamin Mendy back on August 26, 2021. The footballer was arrested for three rape cases that allegedly took place in October 2021 and one sexual assault case from January 2021. Then again he was accused in another rape case from August 2021 followed by two additional rape cases in November 2021.

By November 2021, Benjamin Mendy was an accused in six rape cases and one sexual assault case. These incidents allegedly took place at his Prestbury, Cheshire home on Withilee Road. In further hearings, more cases of rape and assault were levied on him. At present, there are nine charges on him, seven of rape cases and two of sexual assault from October 2020, January, July and August 2021 against six women.

The court rejected all of the bail pleas submitted by Benjamin Mendy. However, on January 7, 2022, the court granted him bail after five months in custody. On February 2, he was again summoned by the Chester Crown Court and next trial date was set to be July 25.

Benjamin Mendy joined Manchester City in July 2017 for a fee of 50 million pounds. His last game before his arrest was on August 15 where he played against Tottenham Hotspur. After that game, Benjamin was suspended in late August. The footballer will again appear in front of the court on March 11 for hearing.
