The Madiwala Police have arrested three of the men, identified as Tejas, Kannan, and Jagannath, and are on the lookout for the remaining men. Reportedly, a complaint has been filed in the Koramangala Police Station.
Road Rage Turned Harassment
The incident took place when the car’s passengers—a man, his wife, a 1.5-year-old child and his mother-in-law—were travelling from Madiwala towards Hosur. A quarrel broke out between them and a few men on bikes after an indicator mishap. The small exchange of words soon turned horrifying, leading the family to drive away in their car.
Speaking to The Indian Express, the driver, who did not wish to disclose his identity, said, “It was around 9.15 pm. As we came near gate 5 of St John’s Hospital, they shouted at us, maybe because of the indicator signal or something, but then continued to chase us for the next 5 km."
He continued, "They were banging on the windows and even tried to open it. We were totally scared. In the meantime, my wife contacted the police helpline 112 and by the time we reached Koramangala, the police arrived and they fled.”
The three were caught on video shouting at the passengers in the car and inching closer to open their door. The woman seated on the passenger's side called the police emergency line to file a complaint. She described the ordeal to the police, her voice trembling in panic. She was heard calling out the vehicle number of the attackers; KA 04 KL 2583. Some of the men allegedly got away, while three of the accused, Tejas, Jagannath, and Kannan, were arrested by the Madiwala Police. An investigation is on for the rest of the remaining men.
