In another horrific incident, a 54-year-old woman was hacked to death, her body was chopped into pieces before being disposed of in the limits of the Bannerghatta police station of Bengaluru South Taluk.
The police have arrested one accused with regard to the case, while the other is still on the run. The deceased woman has been identified as Geethamma, a resident of Janata Colony near Bannerghatta.
According to preliminary investigations, the police came to know that Geethamma owned four houses in Janta Colony. She lived in one of them while renting the other three houses. The accused, Pankaj and Inder Kumar, along with others, had been residing there for over seven years. They were pressuring Geethamma to give away her property to them.
Bengaluru Woman Hacked To Death
They were forcing her to sign documents regarding this. During an argument, the gang hacked her to death and cut her body into pieces with a saw. Then they disposed of the body parts in various places in Bengaluru and left the city.
The incident came to light when the police received a tip about a headless and limbless body lying near a bush in Bannerghatta police station limits. The police tried to find the other body parts but failed.
On further investigation, the police discovered the identity of the body and that her tenants had disappeared to their native place in Bihar. A team led by Inspector Umamahesh went to Bihar, and despite opposition from some locals and tackling stones being pelted at them, police managed to arrest Inder Kumar.
Eventually, the accused confessed to the crime. He showed the police the various spots where they had disposed of the woman’s head and limbs. He also revealed that since the body began decaying, they were forced to throw it into a bush. Further investigation of the case is underway.
What's Creating These Psychopaths?
What’s with the rising number of crimes where killers are murdering people and then chopping them into pieces? Since the Pune shocker case of Aftab Poonawala murdering and chopping his live-in partner, Shraddha Walkar into 35 pieces, similar incidents have been cropping up on the news frequently. What is going on inside these men’s heads? How can they be so inhumane? What is creating such psychopaths?
Just last week we came across the terrifying news of a 56-year-old man, Manoj Ramesh Sane, chopping off 32-year-old Saraswathi Vaidya’s body into several pieces, boiling them in a pressure cooker, storing them in utensils, and trying to dispose of them. While we aren’t divulging deep into that case, it’s perplexing to understand what goes inside the heads of these men.
The concept of psychopaths can seem intriguing as long as they are fictional characters in crime thrillers. But real-life incidents are making our stomachs churn. Can real people who we might walk across every day have such a monstrous side to them? Can people whom we thought to be people be completely psychotic?
Recalling the police's mention that Aftab Poonawala claimed that he was inspired by the web series Dexter to chop off his girlfriend’s body, the question arises whether the media is playing a role in ingraining sadism into people's heads. Or was the psychopathic trait already hidden inside and triggered at one point? If it’s the latter, what’s triggering the psychopathic trait—media or anger?
While nothing can justify the crimes these men have committed, there is a need to dig into their minds in order to prevent these ghastly crimes in the future. We need to know what's changing a person into a psychopath to prevent such incidents in the future.
