People can do something bizarre and keep repeating it without even being scared to get caught. This is what happen in Bengaluru, a 50-year-old woman allegedly posed as a police officer and extorted snacks from a pushcart eatery for atleast a month.
The owner of the pushcart outlet reportedly claimed to the police that the woman posed as a police officer and extorted fruits, vegetables, and food from vendors in the area in north Bengaluru’s Byatarayanapura on Ballari Road. Police arrested the woman on 7 January, Saturday.
Bengaluru Woman Extorts Snacks Vendor
As per the complaint, the 50-year-old approached him on a two-wheeler posing as a police constable at a nearby station. She demanded fried delicacies such as bajjis and bondas for free to eat as well as a takeaway. She demanded food in return to let him continue his business. The stall owner Shaikh Salman claimed she gave women free snacks 12 times in the last month.
However, the accused woman couldn't continue to put her act and it was revealed that she was a fraud. One day Shaikh bothered by the woman's threat called dialled the emergency number for the police and the woman escaped from the spot. He asked the woman for payment and she threatened to get his shop closed.
The police registered a case of extortion and cheating, and also arrested her. The woman is identified as Nethravathi, a homemaker married to an engineer.
