Rape Accused Shot: The prime accused in a rape case, that went on social media, was shot by the Bengaluru Police on June 2, 2021. The accused reportedly tried to escape by trying to attack the police team which went to arrest him on Wednesday.
A woman from Bangladesh was assaulted and gang-raped following a financial dispute by six people including a woman. After that, the gang had forced her into prostitution and the rape survivor was trafficked from Bangladesh to India, according to police. She reportedly landed in Assam, West Bengal, Telangana and Karnataka three years ago.
The Police added that they had got a tip-off about the kingpin Shahbaz who they went to arrest Wednesday morning. On seeing the police team approaching him, the man pulled out a knife and allegedly attacked a police constable. The accused tried to flee the police but was shot and injured by the cops.
The incident comes days after two of his accomplices were shot at and injured by the city police during an escape attempt. A head constable was injured by the accused. While the accused in the rape case sustained an injury in the leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

A video of a group of men and a woman physically assaulting and raping the Bangladeshi woman went viral on the internet after which the Assam police shared pictures from the video of the accused persons and shared them on social media. The Police shot two of the accused in rape case in self-defence after the two men reportedly tried to flee. Both the injured men were taken to the hospital for treatment.
A case of rape and assault has been registered against all six accused at Ramamurthynagar police station, Kamal Pant, Bengaluru Police Commissioner said. As per The Hindu, the four male accused were taken to Karegowda Layout, K Channasandra, where two allegedly tried to escape on May 28.
