When 29-year-old fashion designer Priyanka Mallick from West Bengal got to know about the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, she thought of designing a brooch and dress for them respectively. She wrote to the representative of the Royal family about her idea and sent her designs to them hoping for the best.

Mallick was delighted to get a letter of appreciation in response as the royals liked her designs. Buckingham Palace also extended her an invitation to attend the coronation in person on May 6 at London's Westminster Abbey. The Indian designer is hoping that the King and Queen will be wearing her design on coronation day.

A resident of Badinan village of Hooghly district in West Bengal, Priyanka Mallick completed her bachelor's and master's in fashion design from Milan University, Italy.

She was an excellent student and has been the winner of the International Fashion Designer Marathon and Fashion Stylist of the Year titles in Milan. She also won the Real Super Women Award in 2022 while in India.

According to Mallick, her coronation designs will be launched on the website of the British government.

While Mallick is elated with this royal opportunity, she won't be attending the coronation in London citing health issues. However, she will mark her presence at the event organised by the British Deputy High Commission on Saturday in Kolkata.

Recently, Prince Charles issued a Royal Warrant in which he stated that Queen Consort Camilla will be addressed as Queen Camilla post her coronation on Saturday. The change in title shall be reflected in all royal documentation as well including the Church of England.

This is a historic move as till now, the spouse of the King or Queen did not get the title of Queen or King respectively and were referred to as King/Queen consort. The change was suggested by the late Queen Elizabeth last year on Accession Day and now King Charles has finally implemented it.
