Bengal Doctors Transferred For Harassing Woman: Two doctors of a state-run hospital allegedly sexually harassed a woman last year. The woman lodged a complaint recently which was followed by an uproar in the hospital campus on July 8. The Government transferred the two accused, the police said on July 9.

The sexual assault survivor lodged a police complaint of harassment against the two practising doctors in the hospital, herself being a postdoctoral student of the same hospital. An official said on Friday that the West Bengal Government transferred the doctors following the complaint against them.
One of the accused is an assistant professor while the other head of the critical care unit of the concerned hospital. According to an order issued by the Health Department, the latter has been allegedly shielding the former.

According to the complainant, the alleged harassment started in February 2020 when she, along with the assistant professor and the head of the department went to attend a conference in Hyderabad, according to a report by NDTV.
The woman approached the hospital authorities when things started deteriorating however, a hospital official reportedly said that no action was taken by them in the first place.
On July 8, the Health Department issued transfer orders for the doctors in question following an uproar on the campus.
In another similar incident, a woman accused doctors at an Uttar Pradesh hospital of gangraping her while she was in the operation theatre. It was recently reported that the woman succumbed to death while enduring intestinal complications at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, MLN Medical College.
