A 16 girl-year-old girl from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh was allegedly beaten to death and burnt by her own family members. As per reports, the girl was caught talking to a boy over the phone, which caused the family to take such a horrific step. This incident surfaced after the police were informed by the villagers.
As per reports, the incident occurred under the Kothi Police station of Dedhia village, in Barabanki district. The girl had allegedly come to the village, on the occasion of Holi and was staying in the village for around two weeks, when this incident took place. Time and again girls have been policed, and sometimes even tortured, and killed by their own family members, over their choices. Who gives them the right over a life? Will India ever stop policing its daughters?

This incident comes as a shocker. The teen was allegedly caught talking on the phone to a boy, which the family didn’t approve of. This caused a dispute in the family, causing the father to beat her to death and then burn her body in a nearby field. As soon as the incident was brought to the police's notice, they immediately rushed to the site and doused the fire.
The girl’s charred body, which was reportedly 80% burnt already, was then taken to a post-mortem by the police. Additionally, the forensics team has also found blood in the victim’s house, reports revealed. The girl's family are the prime suspects and the police have launched a search hunt to trace the family, as her family is currently absconding.
The 16-year-old was a student of Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential school. Additional police forces have been deployed in the village. Superintendent of Police Manoj Pandey has stated that the death of the girl still remains a mystery. Further details are awaited.
