Bar Singer Raped: A man was booked on Friday by Kamothe police for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 25-year-old singer of an orchestra bar, officials said.
As per the officials, the woman worked a bar in Panvel. The accused man was reportedly her friend but the duo had a fight few months after which the woman filed a harassment complaint against him at Panvel city police station.
The accused man allegedly kidnapped the woman when she was coming back from work. Smitha Jadhav, the senior inspector at Kamothe Police staion said, "On Wednesday night when the survivor was returning from work in a taxi, the accused accosted her at Kamothe and then forcefully took her to his car. He then took her to a lodge and then forced himself on her. "
The official added that the accused allegedly threatened the survivor of dire consequences if she reached out to police. He then fled the scene according to reports.
The police are suspecting that the man was trying to take revenge since the harassment complaint was filed against him. According to reports, the survivor being too scared to approach the police finally reported the incident on Friday. An FIR was lodged in the case against the accused at APMC police station. The case was later transferred to Kamothe police station since the woman was kidnapped from that jurisdiction.
Smitha Jadhav said that the accused has been booked under sections sections 376, 363 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
"We are now looking for him and hope to arrest him soon,” Jadhav said.
