Pori Moni drugs case: A case has been registered against Bangladeshi actor Pori Moni and her manager after anti-crime police officials raided her home and claimed to have recovered drugs and liquor from there. As per local reports, she was detained in relation to the case Wednesday with the investigating Rapid Action Battalion task force due to bring multiple charges against her.
The mini-bar stocked with imported liquor and drug tablets found at Pori Moni's residence in Banani, Dhaka, were used to host "drug-fuelled parties", RAB are claiming as per Dhaka Tribune.
A case against the actor's manager Ashraful Islam has reportedly been registered under the Narcotics Control Act, while Bangladeshi film producer Nazrul Islam Raz has also been detained under similar charges after raids at his residence.
Pori Moni Drugs Case: Bangladesh Film Industry Sees RAB Action
According to reports by Daily Star, Samsunnahar Smriti (whose stage name is Pori Moni) hosted a Facebook live session around 4 PM, only minutes prior to the RAB officials knocked at her door. "I'm afraid to open the door," she said in her live, alleging someone may have assumed the identity of said officials and visited her home to kill her.
Calling the entire episode "torture," she claimed to have called the police but received no positive response from them. "Will you come after I am dead? I might just die from a heart attack or a stroke," she said to her viewers on live, as per reports.
After half an hour, RAB made a four-hour search of her residence. Multiple arrests have already been made in the 'syndicate' operation, including of models and media personalities.
Earlier this year in June, Pori Moni had made headlines after levelling rape allegations on social media against noted businessman Nasir U Mahmood. The accused had been arrested, along with multiple others involved, following the actor's claims but were soon released on bail.
