Baishali Dalmiya, a BJP MLA will now be contesting in the West Bengal elections this year. Her name has appeared in the BJP party's candidate list for contesting in the fourth phase of the elections.

She will be contesting from the Bally constituency. Besides her, Bengali actor Srabanti Chatterjee has also made it to the list.

- Baishali Dalmiya is a BJP MLA who represents West Bengal's Bally constituency.
- Baishali is the daughter of Jagmohan Dalmiya who is a cricket administrator and businessman.
- Dalmiya developed a keen interest in politics and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2016 after her father's death. She was then given a ticket to contest in the West Bengal elections and became a member of the state legislative assembly.
- In January 2021, Baishali Dalmiya was expelled by the TMC for indulging in anti-party activities. According to reports, the TMC had expelled her for publicly criticising the party, and the leadership of Prashant Kishor, the advisor of Trinamool Congress Party chief. She also said that the TMC is no place for “honest and sincere people in the party”.
- Her expulsion came after the resignation of Rajib Banerjee, a senior TMC leader who had also raised questions about the party.
- She had also threatened to take Tafzil Ahmed, the former party councillor of Howrah Municipal Corporation who had allegedly accused her of taking beneficiaries of government schemes.
- On 30 January 2021, Dalmiya joined the BJP along with Prabir Ghoshal, Rajib Banerjee, Rathin Chakraborty and Rudranil Ghosh in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
