Badaun Rape Case: 5-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped And Killed In UP

Badaun Rape Case: A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Police have revealed that the incident occurred in the Civil Lines police station area on April 11.

The 5-year-old was allegedly raped and killed when she went to the fields along with her family to collect wheat on the night of April 11. According to the police report, the accused was hiding in the field the girl and her family were going to. He then allegedly raped the girl in the field and proceeded to kill her when she tried to scream.

According to reports, the family of the girl who was working to collect wheat started to frantically search for her as soon as they realised she was missing. Soon after launching the search, the family found the accused along with the 5-year-old’s body. Police also reported that the family members who found the girl’s body with the accused also thrashed him out of anger.

The accused is reportedly a man in his mid-twenties and a resident of Udham Singh Nagar district in Uttarakhand. He was brought to a religious place in this district of Uttar Pradesh by his family for treatment but he ran away. The treatment the accused was supposed to get was not specified in the police report.

After the police reached the place of the crime where the girl was allegedly murdered, they arrested the accused immediately. The body of the girl is also supposed to be further examined by forensics following procedures. Sankalp Sharma, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said, "The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination and the matter is being probed."

Many people have expressed their grievances for the girl and her family and anger towards the accused on media. Many also blamed the government and their lack of efficient governance in Uttar Pradesh as the state has seen a major rise in rape, killings, and violence. They claimed that UP is the centre for these inhumane actions due to the ineffective government. This is the second time a rape and killing case has been witnessed in the area recently.
