Congress MLA Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was tragically murdered in Mumbai last week, has made a heartfelt plea for justice. In an emotional statement shared on X on October 17, Zeeshan urged that his father's death should not be politicised, emphasising the family's need for justice.
My Family Needs Justice: Baba Siddique's Son Demands Justice
Authorities have arrested two of the three identified shooters, while the third suspect, Shiv Kumar Gautam, remains on the run. Additionally, two other individuals allegedly involved in the conspiracy have been apprehended. On Thursday, October 17, Mumbai police issued a lookout circular (LOC) for Shubham Lonkar, who reportedly made a social media post suggesting that Lawrence Bishnoi's gang was responsible for the high-profile murder. Meanwhile, take a look at Zeeshan Siddique’s post.
My father lost his life protecting and saving the lives and homes of poor innocent people. Today, my family is broken but his death must not be politicised and definitely not go in vain.

I NEED JUSTICE, MY FAMILY NEEDS JUSTICE!
In a shocking incident on October 12, former Maharashtra Minister and prominent leader of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Baba Siddique, was shot dead in Mumbai. According to initial reports, three to four attackers fired multiple rounds at Siddique outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra (East). Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. Just 15 days prior to the incident, Siddique had received a death threat and was under 'Y' category security.
About Baba Siddique And His Political Journey
Born in Bihar, Baba Siddique began his political journey as a young teenager. He first joined the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress (INC), marking his entry into active politics. His dedication and leadership skills quickly earned him a spot in the local government. He was elected as a municipal corporation in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation at a young age.
Over the years, Siddique rose in the ranks of Maharashtra politics. He served three consecutive terms as an MLA from the Vandre West Vidhan Sabha Constituency in 1999, 2004, and 2009. His political career also saw him take on key responsibilities as a Minister of State for Food & Civil Supplies, Labour, and FDA (Food and Drug Administration). His contributions to the state's welfare earned him respect across party lines.
However, earlier this year, in February 2024, Siddique made headlines for his decision to leave the Congress party. He resigned from the primary membership of the party and joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Ajit Pawar, a significant political shift that surprised many in Maharashtra's political circles.
Personal Life of Baba Siddique
Baba Ziauddin Siddique, as he was formally known, was married to Shehzeen Siddique. Reports suggest that her real name was Alka Bindra before she converted to Islam after marriage. She is also the sister of Ranjit Bindra, a known personality in business circles.
Together, the couple had two children, Arshia and Zeeshan. Not much is known about Shehzeen, as she has largely stayed away from public and social media platforms.
Zeeshan Siddique
Baba Siddique’s son, Zeeshan Siddique, is currently the youngest MLA in the Maharashtra Assembly, representing the Vandre East constituency. He pursued his Master’s degree in Global Management & Public Leadership from Regent University, London. Following his studies, Zeeshan entered politics, joining the Congress Party and eventually contesting the 2019 elections, where he secured a win. His political career is still in its early stages, but he has already made a mark as a young and dynamic leader.
A video circulating online from the last rites of late Baba Siddique captures Zeeshan mourning beside his father's mortal remains. He was visibly distraught, crying uncontrollably. The moment touched the hearts of those present as well as online viewers.

Arshia Siddique
Baba Siddique’s daughter, Arshia Siddique, chose a different path from politics. A doctor and an entrepreneur, Arshia co-founded Skrite Labs and is also the CEO of Shopease Techsoft Private Limited. Additionally, she owns the Kunafa World cafe in Bandra. Although she briefly entered politics, Arshia later shifted her focus entirely to medicine and entrepreneurship, building her own career outside the political arena.
