Baba Ka Dhaba Owner Suicide Attempt: Timeline Of Events

Baba Ka Dhaba owner Kanta Prasad has been making headlines since last year when a Youtuber discovered his small eatery in Malviya Nagar.

Prasad was rushed to Safdarjung hospital on Thursday night. According to the police, he tried to take his own life and overdosed on sleeping pills and alcohol.

In her statement to ANI, his wife Badami Devi said, "I don't know anything, I don't know what did he eat. I had not seen. He fell unconscious, I was sitting at the dhaba. I brought him here. Doctor has not told us anything so far. I don't know what was going on in his mind."

Baba Ka Owner Kanta Prasad Attempts Suicide: Timeline of Events

• In 2020, Youtuber posted about an 80-year-old couple running a small eatery in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. He wrote, "80-year-old couple selling best matar paneer. Inhe hmari zarurat hai." He posted a video in which the couple was seen crying as their business had not been doing well during the pandemic.
• The video got viral and many people started to flock in front of his eatery. Many also donated money to him.
• Later in November, Kanta Prasad accused Youtuber Wasan of swindling funds donated to him. According to Prasad, Wasan had shared his and his family's account details thereby collecting the money that was donated to Prasad. Delhi police had also filed a case against Wasan. He had denied all allegations.
• In December last, Prasad was open a new restaurant near his old eatery. He served Indian and Chinese cuisine and had also hired two chefs.
• Earlier this month, it was reported that Prasad had to shut down his restaurant due to heavy losses. His restaurant was reportedly doing a business of Rs 30,000 every month but due to the massive rent of one lakh rupees, he had to bear heavy losses.
• Recently, a food blogger had shared a video on social media in which Prasad can be seen apologising to Wasan with folded hands. He said, " Woh ladka koi chor nahi tha, na usko humne kabhi chor kahan hai( That boy was not a thief, neither did we ever call him one)."
• On Thursday night, Kanta Prasad was rushed to the hospital. According to Delhi police, he had tried to take his own life by overdosing on alcohol and sleeping pills. His wife said that he had been under stress for some time, police said.
