National award-winning actor Ayushmann Khurrana features as one of The Hundred Most Influential People in Time Magazine this year. Fellow actor Deepika Padukone penned a note on Ayushmann for the magazine, writing that he is an actor who dared to dream big and how. Khurrana took to Instagram to share how “honoured” he was feeling to be a part of the group, which also includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Lauding him for taking up roles with social messages and subduing "stereotypical masculinity" in his films, Padukone wrote, "In India, with a population of more than 1.3 billion, only a tiny percentage of people see their dreams come alive, and Ayushmann Khurrana is one of them." She further wrote that where male protagonist roles often fall into the trap of stereotypical masculinity, the Bala actor has "successfully and convincingly transformed into characters who challenge those very stereotypes."

Padukone, who was last seen in the film Chhapaak, said that she "vividly" remembers Khurrana's acting in his debut film, Vicky Donor. "He had, of course, been a part of the entertainment industry in various other ways for several years before that, but the reason you and I talk about him today is because of the impact he has been able to create through memorable films and iconic characters."

She further added that besides “talent and hard work”, Khurrana is the epitome of "patience, perseverance and fearlessness. A little insight for those who dare to dream."
Humbled by the recognition, Khurrana wrote on Instagram: “I’m truly humbled with the recognition that TIME has bestowed on me. As an artiste, I have only looked to contribute towards bringing a positive change in society through cinema and this moment is a huge validation of my belief system and my journey. I have always believed that cinema has the power to bring about change by triggering the right conversations among people and society. Hopefully, through my content choices, I have been able to contribute towards my country and countrymen.”
His Badhaai Ho co-star Neena Gupta congratulated him, writing, “Oh amazing!”
Deepika Padukone's name is currently tangled in Bollywood-drug controversy and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had already summoned her manager Karishma Prakash for questioning, an official said on Tuesday. According to the latest reports, NCB is scanning through several drug chats that mention an individual with initials ‘D’. According to Times Now, this ‘D’ person has allegedly been identified as Deepika Padukone and NCB is reportedly planning to call the actress for questioning soon.

Earlier in August, Kangana Ranaut attacked Ayushmann Khurrana, who also won National Film Award for his film Andhadhun, for allegedly supporting "Bollywood mafias" and sympathising with Rhea Chakraborty.
