Avoid India Travel: The United States Public Health Agency has warned its citizens to not travel to India even if they are fully vaccinated. If a journey to the country is unavoidable it should be only done if the person has gone under all the dose of vaccination before travelling.
The health agency has placed India in the highest of Level 4 category of COVID-19.
The United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said that due to the current situation of the pandemic in India, travelling even when fully vaccinated may not guarantee safety from the virus. The travellers may be at risk of contracting and spreading the variants of the virus.
The information was released under CDC's Key Information for Travellers to India.
The advisory released also said that if one must travel to India, they should get fully vaccinated before setting forth. The travellers must also wear masks at all time, avoid crowds, wash hands, and stay at least 6 feet from people.
On Sunday, India recorded the highest rise in COVID cases which reached over 2.7 lakh and the country is being swept with a severe second wave of the virus. Many states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana and many others along with the national capital Delhi has imposed curfews and lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus.
Along with the rapid growth in cases, the country is also suffering from a shortage of oxygen cylinders, essential drugs and hospital beds for COVID-19 patients. In some of the states, vaccines have also started running out at a time when a nationwide vaccine drive has been announced.
In the last 24 hours, India recorded 2,59,170 new COVID-19 cases taking the total tally to 1,53,21,089 with more than 20 lakh active cases, According to the Union Health Ministry data. The total death in the country has passed a mark of 1.8 lakh with 1761 recorded new deaths every day.
