Austrian Woman Tortures 12-Year-Old Son, Traps Him In Dog Cage

An Austrian mother tortured her 12-year-old son by repetitively beating and starving him. She not only put him in a dog cage but also doused him in cold water with apartment windows opened for several hours in sub-zero temperatures. A Northeastern Austrian court in Krems pronounced the accused guilty of all charges against her son including attempted murder and sentenced her to 20 years imprisonment for the heinous crime. A 40-year-old friend of the accused who was found an accomplice in the crime encouraging her via texts and calls has been sentenced to 14 years in jail.

Court Proceedings

Apart from the court's verdict on Thursday, the Krems court has also ordered both the guilty women to undertake therapy as the psychiatrist told the court during the trial that the mother of the survivor was suffering from a severe and persistent mental illness and had developed a "paranoid symbiotic relationship" with her "manipulative" friend.

As per the reports, during the trial, both the accused women had traded the accusations as the mother apologised for her actions justifying that she merely wished to "discipline" her son. 

While the accomplice claimed in the court she was unaware of the scale of the inflicted abuse, the evidence of the conversations exchanged between the two women proved the opposite. 

The presiding judge during the trial also stated that the boy was psychologically "completely destroyed."

The state government has now also laid out a commission to investigate if the authorities could have done something to rescue the boy sooner.

Austrian Mother Tortures Her 12-Year-Old Son

Investigations revealed that the guilty mother used to repetitively beat and starve her son, and caged him in a small dog cage. The woman used to pour cold water on her son while keeping the apartment's windows open for several hours in freezing sub-zero temperatures causing the boy's body temperature to drop to a life-threatening 80.2°F (26.8°Celcius). 

The torture that persisted for five months or maybe longer in 2022 ended when a social worker received repetitive calls from a friend about the torture against a 12-year-old child. 

Following this, the mother was arrested in late 2022 and the boy was reportedly severely malnourished, comatose, and was found suffering from hypothermia at the time when he was rescued. 

Some reports also claimed that previously the boy tried to run away from his mother's house but was taken back to her.
