Incident Details

This incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Hanumantal police station. As reported by NDTV, Additional Superintendent of Police Priyanka Shukla in Jabalpur stated that the victim, the daughter of Sakil Mansoori disappeared on the afternoon of October 16.

The horrific event happened in the Rajiv Nagar Area. After the family members conducted a search for the girl and were unsuccessful in locating her, they approached the police.

Detecting inconsistencies in the statements provided by the family members and finding no information after reviewing the CCTV footage from the area, the police proceeded to search the residence. It was during this search that the girl's lifeless body was discovered concealed beneath a sofa in the drawing room.

Police Interrogation Details

During police interrogation, Afsana, who is the girl's aunt, admitting to the murder told the police detailed incident. Allegedly, the victim had entered her room on the afternoon of October 16.

The child went to her paternal aunt's room. They shared a meal, and afterwards, the aunt requested the toddler to return to her mother, as she wanted to rest. However, when the girl declined to leave the room, the accused slapped her. This caused the child to cry continuously, which infuriated her aunt, leading her to strangle the girl to death and conceal the body beneath the sofa set.

The suspect has been apprehended and detained, and the authorities are anticipating the post-mortem report. Subsequently, a murder case will be filed against the individual.

A Similar Case From 2022

In Mizoram, a 38-year-old woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a district court for the murder of her 13-year-old niece, Catherine T Biaksiami.

Chingsianzovi, who hails from Khawzawl town in eastern Mizoram, strangled her niece to death in February of the previous year. The tragic incident occurred while the two were at a farmhouse gathering firewood.

Chingsianzovi had instructed Catherine to collect firewood during the day, but upon discovering that her niece had not gathered a satisfactory amount, she became extremely angry. A heated argument between the two ensued, and in a fit of rage, Chingsianzovi strangled her niece to death.
