Indian society often teaches young women to glorify their husbands. But what if the young woman is a cop and the would-be-husband turns out to be a conman? Junmoni Rabha, a sub-inspector in Assam's Nagaon district, filed an FIR against Rana Pogag, her fiance after she found out that he was a conman.
Assam Cop Arrests Fiancé
He had duped several people by promising them a job with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) after falsely claiming that he was working with ONGC in Assam. According to the police, Pogag allegedly duped people for crores of rupees. In fact, he introduced himself as a public-relations officer to her. The two got engaged in October last year. They were set to get married in November but she decided to file an FIR as soon as she came to know that he was a conman.
She said in an interview that after her engagement, she went back to her place of posting. He lied by stating he got posted in (southern Assam’s) Silchar. When he was not reporting for duty, she had asked for the reasons but he asked her if she wanted him to live away from him.

On one occasion, she had checked his bag and recovered some fake seals and documents of the ONGC. So, she lodged an FIR with the police authorities. A case was registered against him and he was arrested.
"I am grateful to the three people who came to me with information about him (Rana Pogag) on how big a fraud he is. They opened my eyes," Ms Rabha told the media.
