It's Over! Tai Tzu-Ying has cut short India's dream of PV Sindhu bagging a gold in badminton women's singles in the Asian Games in Indonesia. The Olympic silver medallist lost the battle 13-21, 16-21 to settle for the silver medal. She is the first Indian to reach Asiad Badminton final and win a medal.
World No. 3 PV Sindhu fought her arch nemesis World No.1 Tai Tzu Ying from Chinese Taipei in a match that lasted just 34 minutes.
No Indian -- man or woman -- has ever reached the final of a singles event at the Asian Games before
On August 27, Saina Nehwal clinched a bronze in badminton singles.
Sindhu has not beaten Tai Tzu in their last five meetings. The Chinese Taipei player, on the other hand, had an overall 9-3 dominance over the Indian shuttler. It was in the 2016 Rio Olympics that Sindhu had been able to triumph over Tai Tzu.

Sindhu, who was playing her fifth final this year -- India Open, Commonwealth Games, Thailand Open and BWF World Championships, was under pressure to break the jinx and failed at Asiad. In the Commonwealth Games final, she lost to compatriot Saina Nehwal and brought home a silver medal.
Most recently, Carolina Marin defeated her in the final of the BWF World Championship. It was also her second defeat in the final of World Championships as she had lost an epic final against Nozomi Okuhara at Glasgow last year.
On Monday, Sindhu trounced second seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 and stormed into the women’s singles badminton final at the Asian Games. With this, she has assured the country of its first-ever silver in badminton. In the process, the 23-year-old scripted history by becoming the first Indian to reach the final of an individual event at the Games.
