Aryan Khan might have been targeted during his drug case fiasco as pointed out by the vigilance department of the Narcotics Control Bureau which has submitted a report on it.

The Cordelia cruise drug case where Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested and later exonerated, has been found to have suspicious behaviour by the seven to eight officials of the agency.

- Sameer Wankhede, an IRS officer led a team of NCB officials who conducted a drug bust at the Cordelia cruise ship on October 2, 2021. It led to 20 arrests including that of Aryan Khan. The items seized during the drug bust were - 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of mephedrone, 21 grams of marijuana, 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy), and ₹1.33 lakh in cash.
- After spending 28 days in jail, Khan along with Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were given bail by the Bombay High Court.
- It was in May 2022, that Aryan Khan along with five was exonerated. While the NCB submitted a 6000-page charge sheet against 14 people who were charged in the case.
- Today, a report was submitted by the Vigilance team set up by the NCB to look at the "shoddy" work by Wankhede's team during the case. Chief vigilance officer of the bureau, Deputy director general Gyaneshwar Singh said that a 3,000-page internal vigilance report “has been submitted to NCB director general Satya Narayan Pradhan”.
- The NCB report says, "The investigation team of NCB has found the role of 7 to 8 NCB officers suspicious in this case. The Vigilance team of NCP found in its investigation that the Aryan Khan case was not investigated properly as Aryan Khan was deliberately targeted and why it was done is not yet known."
- The report also recommends action against the officers at the Mumbai Unit of the NCB, along with the zonal director of the Mumbai unit.
- The report suggests that there were procedural lapses in the drug bust investigation which was conducted by Sameer Wankhede. There was no video recording of the raid which is a mandate for all such procedures and it is said that the drugs which were recovered throughout multiple arrests were shown as a single recovery.
- A Special Investigation team was set up under the NCB which reinvestigated the case and the initial arrests and gave a report saying they found "grave irregularities" and suspected that Aryan Khan might be implicated in the case.
- The SIT report also said that there was no need for seizing Aryan Khan's phone and accessing the chats and that the chats did not provide any proof of his alleged connection with any international syndicate.
- According to reports, the unravelling of the NCB's case started soon after the investigating officer was removed who was accused of such lapses and the cases were shifted from Mumbai to a Delhi-based team.
